Worship Service
Every Saturday morning we celebrate the Sabbath together during our worship service from 11:00 to 12:00 hours in the Salvation Army building at Johan de Wittlaan 31 in Gouda.
Coffee and tea will be served after our worship service to spend time together. We believe it is important that we pay attention to each other.
Would you like to join us in our Sabbath celebration? You are more than welcome. Will you let us know that you are coming? (That is not manditory, you can also just show up.) We’d love to see you!
Before our worship service, we discuss a topic from the Bible, we call this Sabbath School. If you wish, you are welcome to participate in Sabbath School, but you can also choose to just join our worship service. For more information about our Sabbath School, please see below.
Sabbath School
Every saturday before worship we study and learn together in Sabbath school. Sabbath school begins at 10:00 hours in small groups. There are also groups for children with age-appropriate Bible studies.
The Sabbath school is intended to exchange ideas with each other about the Bible and everyone is free to participate in the conversation. Biblical knowledge is not necessary. The purpose of these conversations is to grow in Bible knowledge and faith. We use a theme book every quarter which you can find here.
Sabbatschool
Elke zaterdag voor de eredienst is er sabbatschool. De sabbatschool begint om 10:00 uur met een bijbelstudie in kleine groepen. Er zijn ook groepen voor kinderen met een op hun leeftijd afgestemde bijbelstudie.
De sabbatschool is bedoeld om met elkaar van gedachten te wisselen over de bijbel en iedereen is vrij om aan het gesprek deel te nemen. Bijbelkennis is niet noodzakelijk. Het doel van deze gesprekken is te groeien in bijbelkennis en geloof (= vertrouwen). We gebruiken een themaboekje dat per kwartaal besteld kan worden en waarvan altijd een extra exemplaar voor bezoekers aanwezig is.

I grew up in an Adventist family. We went to church every Sabbath and that’s where I met my friends. We often went for walks in the afternoon. That’s actually how I still celebrate the Sabbath. To church in the morning and into nature in the afternoon with Albert, my husband whom I married in 1985. There was a period when we walked with our three children, but they are adults now. This all sounds very relaxed. Yet my path with God was not always easy. I looked for a loving relationship with God for years, but didn’t find it because I looked for love within myself. At a low point in my life I read Paul’s letter to the Romans (8:38-39), which says that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ. I accepted His love and discovered that because of it, the love grew in me. That awareness brought me peace and I would like to share that with the people around me. Albert and I live in Linschoten and have been part of the Adventist group in Gouda for a long time.

Ik ben opgegroeid in een gezin met Adventistische ouders. Wij gingen iedere sabbat naar de kerk en daar ontmoette ik mijn vrienden. ’s Middags werd er vaak gewandeld. Zo doe ik het eigenlijk nog steeds. ‘s Morgens naar de kerk en ’s middags de natuur in met Albert, mijn man met wie ik in 1985 getrouwd ben. Er was een periode dat we met onze drie kinderen wandelden, maar die zijn nu volwassen. Dat klinkt allemaal heel relaxed. Toch was mijn weg met God niet altijd even gemakkelijk. Ik ben jarenlang op zoek geweest naar een liefdevolle relatie met God, maar die vond ik niet omdat ik de liefde bij mijzelf zocht. Op een dieptepunt in mijn leven las ik in de brief van Paulus aan de Romeinen (8:38-39), waar staat dat niets ons kan scheiden van de liefde van God die in Jezus is. Ik heb Zijn liefde aanvaard en ontdekte dat daardoor de liefde in mij groeide. Die ontdekking bracht mij vrede en dat wil ik graag delen met de mensen om mij heen. Albert en ik wonen in Linschoten en maken al heel lang deel uit van de groep Adventisten in Gouda.
Location Sabbath celebration
We celebrate the Sabbath in the Salvation Army building at lthe Johan de Wittlaan 31 in Gouda. You can let us know you are coming or just drop by; which ever you prefer. Free parking is available in the streets surrounding the building. There is also a bus stop on the Johan de Wittlaan, where bus 1 and bus 4 stop. Bus 178 stops on the Savornin Lohmansingel, which is about a 5 minute walk.
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion — it is a daily process whereby you grow to become more like Christ.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
